The materials we use

MATERIALS -

Every pair of denim is a sum of its parts. This is why we are carefully examining each element—from the raw cotton in our fabric to the metal that makes up our hardware—and making sustainable and eco-friendly choices whenever we can while ensuring the quality, style, comfort, and fit you expect from a pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans.

MATERIALS -

Our ultimate goal is to ensure that over 80% of our products will have sustainable properties—certified by measurable, third-party indexes—by 2023, and will comprise of one of more of the following:

+ Organic, recycled, and/or Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) cotton
+ Recycled polyester, elastane, and nylon
+ Organic, recycled, and responsibly sourced wool
+ Sustainable manmade cellulosic materials (e.g. TENCEL™ Lyocell, REFIBRA™)
+ Leather Working Group certified leather
+ Other sustainable textiles from the Higg Material Sustainability
Index (MSI)
+ Recycled metal and low-impact processing for hardware

MATERIALS -

Because cotton is so key to our denim-centric collections, championing the use of sustainable cotton is critical to our success in this journey. We are committed to sourcing 100% sustainable cotton by 2025, and we have joined the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) to help guide us in that effort.

Additionally, we are partnering with our current suppliers, encouraging their use of certified sustainable materials while we experiment with new fabrics and applications to determine if they can play a part in our creation of more sustainable, beautiful collections. Each of our suppliers now has a checklist of criteria to ensure we are being as sustainable as possible with our projects together, and we are working with them to collect and track sustainability data so we can measure our collective progress over time.
